If you haven't discovered it already, I encourage you to look up your neighborhood's local Buy-Nothing group on Facebook. It's a great way to continue the giving in a way that feels meaningful, while also minimizing contribution to capitalism, and also building neighborhood ties. My partner and I moved to our new neighborhood (Park Slope) just before the shut down and this has been the best way we've been able to get to know our neighbors in a time of social distancing.

Wait I live in Park Slope! (Currently, but not for much longer). Where is the Buy Nothing group in Park Slope / how can I get connected?? Thank you for the tip!

Go onto Facebook and search in groups, "Buy Nothing Park Slope" or for your new neighborhood, Buy Nothing Prospect Heights or whichever you're moving to, and you should see the group pop up! I'm in the South Slope group, I think ours specifically they have new members on pause as they're about to break us down into smaller, more hyper-local groups. But it's such a great thing to join!!

There’s been a couple NYTimes articles about it over the last couple years as well. Enjoy!
